Hello,
October brings us the energy of the Yang Earth Dog, beginning October 7.
Imagine a loyal old hound sitting on the front porch.
Solid. Watchful. Protective. Not particularly interested in moving unless there’s a very good reason.
That’s Yang Earth Dog.
The Dog is deeply empathetic and attentive to what’s happening around him. But he’s also prone to worry, judgment, and anxiety—and all that Yang Earth can make him stubborn when life asks him to change.
And that’s where October gets interesting.
Because while the Dog wants stability, the 9 Star flies into the Center of the Feng Shui compass this month, bringing Fire, movement, and change right into the heart of our homes and lives.
Things may feel a little hotter.
Emotions may rise faster. Tempers may flare. Our hearts may pound a little louder.
And for the sensitive Dog, it may become difficult to distinguish between what you’re feeling and what you’ve picked up from everyone else.
So before you carry it . . .
Ask yourself:
Is this actually mine?
Here are the Three Truths for October.
How Is This Energy Affecting YOU?
The monthly energy is collective. Your experience of it is personal.
Go beyond your birth-year animal with a 90-minute Chinese Astrology reading that explores your unique energetic makeup, life patterns, strengths, and opportunities.
Know yourself.
Trust your next move.
Truth #1: You can care without carrying
Dog energy notices suffering. It wants to protect, comfort, fix, and make things better.
Personally, you may feel especially sensitive to what friends, family, or the world around you are experiencing. But empathy doesn’t require you to absorb another person’s pain.
You can love someone without joining them in their struggle.
Collectively, emotions may run high. There may be plenty inviting us to worry, react, judge, or take sides.
Stay compassionate—but know where you end and someone else begins.
Compassion does not require absorption.
Truth #2: Change feels harder when you’re gripping the ground
Yang Earth wants stability.
The 9 Star wants movement.
There’s the tension.
Personally, you may find yourself resisting something simply because it’s unfamiliar. Before digging in your heels, ask whether you’re protecting something valuable—or simply protecting what’s comfortable.
Collectively, change may feel fast, heated, or disruptive. Trying to control everything around us will only create more anxiety.
Sometimes stability isn’t found in keeping things the same.
It’s found in trusting yourself while things change.
Truth #3: Your body deserves to be heard
With the 9 Fire Star in the Center, our physical well-being deserves extra attention this month.
Personally, notice what happens when stress rises.
Does your heart race?
Does your digestion change?
Does your body tense?
Do you become restless or exhausted?
Rather than pushing through, become curious about what your body is communicating and seek appropriate care when something feels concerning or persistent.
Collectively, this is another reminder that our bodies aren’t separate from how we’re living.
Listen before the whisper becomes a shout.
THE MEDICINE
Ground. Release. Find joy.
If you’ve picked up something that doesn’t feel like yours, you don’t need a dramatic ceremony to let it go.
Put your hands in the earth.
Work in the garden.
Take a slow shower and imagine what isn’t yours washing away.
Walk beside moving water.
Stand barefoot on the ground.
Breathe.
And be thoughtful about whose energy you spend time around. If someone is deeply struggling and you don’t have the capacity to hold space without absorbing it, it’s okay to create some distance.
That’s not abandoning them.
That’s knowing your own limits.
Then intentionally look for joy.
Laugh.
Notice something beautiful.
Spend time with people who replenish you.
Love the people around you as they find their own way through these challenging times.
You cannot jump in and save everyone.
Especially now.
Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is remain grounded on your own front porch—heart open, feet planted, available without carrying the whole neighborhood.
